Now Reading: S.J. Watson – Before I Go To Sleep

S.J. Watson - Before I Go To SleepThis book seems quite intriguing – I was stood in front of my bookshelf pulling random books off the shelf to decide which one to read next and this one jumped right out at me. From the back of the book:

Memories define us. So what if you lost yours every time you went to sleep?

Your name, your identity, your past, even the people you love – all forgotten overnight.

Sounds fairly average so far right? Then the last two sentences:

And the one person you trust may only be telling you half the story.

Welcome to Christine’s life.

Sounds thrilling – I can’t wait!

Now Reading: Jane Green – The Beach House

The Beach House - Jane GreenAfter spending over a week trying to read The Hobbit and finding it really hard to get involved in, I fancied a quicker, easier read. With the recent spell of hot weather (which is great if you’re not stuck in an office), I wanted something summery to read, and this Jane Green book jumped out at me.

Jane Green is one of my favourite authors, and one that is really easy to find in the charity shops in Pudsey, hence why this one looks a bit battered and old. I quite like books like this though, books that you know have been read and loved by the people who have read them before. And when they only cost 25p, can you really complain? I think not…

Now Reading: Dr Benjamin Daniels – Confessions of a GP

Confessions of a GPThis book was one that was included in a 3 for £5 deal at Tesco, and it looked like it could be a bit of a laugh, easy reading for a weekend. It looks like a collection of stories rather than a novel so it will be easier for dipping in and out of, good for a busy weekend when it’s hard to concentrate for too long, especially after a long weekend when I’m rather tired!

I never anticipated how hard it would be to read 100 books in a year, but it’s turning into quite a challenge! I’ve read 35 so far, but I’m still one book behind where I should be at this point. I’m still hopeful I’ll be able to get there though!

Now Reading: Nicholas Sparks – The Lucky One

The Lucky One - Nicholas SparksIt’s no secret that I love Nicholas Sparks, I don’t think I’ve ever read one of his books that I didn’t like. Although I said that about Charlaine Harris and I’ve been disappointed with the last books I’ve read. This is one of the few Nicholas Sparks books that I’ve not read yet, and when I saw a trailer for it at the cinema I knew I needed to read the book before I go see the film.

The only bad thing about buying a book so close to the film coming out is that it is hard to find one with a nice cover. Instead, I’ve had to settle for one with Zac Efron and generic blonde woman (whatever her name is). I am a sucker for a book with a nice cover, but it’s whats on the inside that counts, so lets hope the book is good! Then I can drag Cameron to see the film with me (or at least I can try)! :-)

Now Reading: Charlaine Harris – Real Murders (Aurora Teagarden #1)

Charlaine Harris - Aurora TeagardenIt’s no secret that I love Charlaine Harris, but for some reason I’ve had this book on my shelf for a long time and never read it. I think it’s probably something to do with the fact that it’s an omnibus, so it’s actually four books in one and it weighs a ton! It’s a good job I’m using a big handbag at the moment!

I wouldn’t be able to decide which Charlaine Harris series is my favourite so far (Lily Bard, Harper Connelly or Sookie Stackhouse), but I’m sure I won’t be disappointed by this one.

Now Reading: Alexandra Potter – Who’s That Girl?

Alexandra Potter - Who's That GirlI read another of Alexandra Potter’s books before Christmas and I remember not being able to put it down. I just wanted to keep reading until it had finished.

I think that a good book should pull you in completely and make you feel almost as if you’re watching a film or living out the story yourself, and Alexandra Potter (from what I’ve read) seems to be able to do this. I’m looking forward to seeing if this book delivers in the same way – it only has a rating of 3.64 on Goodreads, so hopefully I won’t be disappointed.
